Overview

The Happy Village Program is a community-based volunteer-driven health promotion initiative aimed at empowering communities to achieve physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being. This volunteer-driven, community-based effort primarily addresses non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and has expanded significantly in recent years. With operations in over 350 Grama Niladari Divisions, the program is supported by trained healthcare workers at grassroots and divisional levels, receiving specialized training at national and district hubs. The program’s impact is further evidenced by international collaborations, including ongoing research with Imperial College London through the Happy Village Plus Initiative, which seeks to refine and expand community health promotion strategies.
