Developing a Communication strategy for Floods in some districts of Sri Lanka
To increase public awareness, preparedness for emergencies, and to alert on epidemics after flooding, the Health Promotion Bureau in collaboration with the Ministry of Health developed a planned communication strategy to focus on disaster management including multiple communication strategies.

IEC development for public health campaigns -Anti Malaria Campaign
The communication strategy for Malaria Control was planned as a collaborative task of Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) and Anti Malaria Campaign (AMC). The theme and key messages were designed and pretested with several consultative meetings held at HPB. The Malaria Walk was a part of awareness building and empowering community. A social marketing campaign with health education sessions, media activities, HE video/social media posts competition and speeches on Malaria threats with the migration activities was planned accordingly and implemented as a joint venture of HPB and AMC.

Hosting an Exhibition Stall at Mahara Kadawatha Vesak Kalapaya
Since the Vesak Kalapaya is visited by many people, an attractive and cost-effective stall with a rotating lantern carrying health messages was displayed at the Mahara Kadawatha Vesak Kalapaya, spreading health awareness messages among a large community.
Health education lantern, made of an iron structure consists of 12 light boxes carrying general health awareness messages. Boxes are removable and can be used with any new theme. It has removable rotating parts which can be easily resembled at any exhibition. Also, Health education through public addressing system and interactive sessions were included.

IEC development for public health campaigns
Non-Communicable Disease unit – IEC development for addressing the main modifiable risk factors - salt, diet, physical activity and tobacco & alcohol.

Measles Supplementary Immunization Activity (SIA) and a catch-up immunization campaign Communication Strategic Plan
Sri Lanka is currently experiencing an outbreak of measles due to imported viruses that initially started predominantly among the unvaccinated and gradually spread into other communities. Therefore, a comprehensive and multi-pronged Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) campaign was developed with the expertise of the Epidemiology Unit to reach the maximum immunization coverage through SIA and catch-up activity which would include multiple communication strategies such as Key message development and development of video clips, marques, banners and spots to disseminate key health messages through Digital Signage System, mass media and social media.
Theveni Asata Suwaya Sadamu” Mobile Clinic Program for Media Personnel of Sri Lanka
Mobile clinics were conducted for the employees at Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, TV Derana and Wijaya newspaper. The Health Promotion Bureau, NHSL, Nutrition Unit, TB Control unit and the Dental unit participated in delivering the services. It provided many services such as medical consultations, screening for blood sugar and cholesterol, vision testing, dental screening, TB screening, free drugs, ECG, health education and counseling sessions.

Development of activity plan for Sri Lanka in collaboration with UNICEF for Water Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion Program (WASH) and conducting a training workshop
Development of an activity plan for Sri Lanka in collaboration with UNICEF for WASH program and a training workshop was held to share and discuss various dimensions of hand hygiene in HCF level. Health staff including Consultants, Doctors, Nursing Officers, Public Health Inspectors, and other UN agencies participated in this workshop. The training was facilitated by UNICEF Regional Consultant on WASH Ms Niharika Singh.
