The Health Communication & Life Skills Unit is dedicated to enhancing public health through strategic communication and skill-building initiatives. Our responsibilities include implementing behavioural communication strategies on reproductive health in Sri Lanka, focusing on promoting Well Women Clinic services through advocacy, IEC material development, training, and maintaining the “Suwanari” Facebook page. We actively work to prevent sexual and gender-based violence through multi-sector collaboration, training programs like “Happy Family,” and advocacy campaigns. Our efforts also extend to promoting adolescent sexual and reproductive health, family planning, maternal and new-born health, and menstrual health and hygiene, incorporating advocacy, IEC development, and national-level collaborations. We deliver age-appropriate comprehensive sexual education to the public, supported by social media campaigns, and conduct life skill development programs for various audiences. Additionally, we focus on improving the communication skills of public health staff through training and advocacy, while also promoting men's health through targeted programs.

The Media and Publicity Unit complements these initiatives by managing media engagements, issuing press releases, maintaining the HPB YouTube channel, and collaborating with media stations, professional colleges, and public health programs. The unit supports health-related TV and radio talk shows, while also providing videography, photography, audio recording, graphic designing, and conference facilities. Together, we ensure impactful health communication that reaches and benefits diverse populations across Sri Lanka.
