Health Promotion Bureau is greatly involved in community empowerment and public awareness; hence a range of Information Education and Communication material and messages are developed along with many health promotion interventions. Co-designing and co-creating these health communications and interventions with public is a requirement. As a response Health Promotion Bureau People Engagement Network (HPB PEN) was established and is coordinated by the Planning section of the unit.
Management of the HPB website, electronic HE & HP management information system (e-HEAPMIS) and Preschool Health Promotion Information System are main responsibilities of Strategic Information section.
The HPB has 6 Health Promotion Targets, and 17 district level Health Education & Health Promotion Key Performance indicators. Monitoring & Evaluation section of the unit quarterly reviews the progress of achieving the targets and KPII of HE&HP nationally, while supporting conduct of provincial reviews yearly.
Periodical field supervisions to districts by HPB technical teams ensure strengthening the link between national and implementation levels. Quarterly and annual progress reporting to the Ministry of Health, Parliament and other relevant institutions is also carried out by the unit.
Coordinating with 14 identified ministries relevant for Social & Behavioural Change for Child Health Promotion and development of targeted preschools into health promoting settings in Sri Lanka are the other two main programs led and coordinated by the team of this unit.
