Health Promotion Bureau is identified as the National focal point in Risk Communication in the Ministry of Health. Risk communication is a proven critical tool in emergency preparedness and response which enables the exchange of real-time information, advice and opinion between experts and people facing threats to their health, economic or social well-being, ultimately enabling affected people to make informed decisions to protect themselves and their dependents. Risk communication is a core capacity in International Health Regulations which is evaluated periodically.
Workplace is a recognized setting in Health Promotion. Health Promoting workplaces play a very important role in facilitating the development and sustainment of healthy behaviours and lifestyles focusing mainly on primary prevention. It is an ongoing, dynamic process to improve health of employers, employees and the community through the workplace.
The unit plays the roles in advocacy, mediation and capacity building with the collaboration of diverse stakeholders.
